Vancouver Surge signing Nastie & Hicksy for Black Ops 6 season

Vancouver Surge completes its roster for the Black Ops 6 Call of Duty League season as European Call of Duty pros Byron ‘Nastie’ Plumridge and Charlie ‘Hicksy’ Hicks have joined the team.

The team had a somewhat rocky Modern Warfare III season following a move to the Canadian city while still rebranding from being the new Call of Duty team representing the city of Seattle.

They would consistently make top 6, but never really brake that to quality for Champs with really high hopes for the team. After some positives changes in scrims, Surge only managed 7-8th place at Champs.

They had a pretty good uptick at the Esports World Cup with a 3-4th place finish, then fell to LA Thieves in the semi-finals.

And then it lost Cuyler ‘Huke’ Garland and Paul ‘Breszy’ Breszynski, who are still sitting the bench as of this writing.
Abuzah will stay with Surge as well as with 04 after both had spectacular rookie seasons.

In their stead, Surge are working on acquiring the signatures of Nastie and Hicksy. Nastie was on the LA Thieves team that placed fourth at Champs and second at the Esports World Cup, though, with their rumored God-squad coming together, Nastie found himself pushed out of the team in favor of Thomas ‘Scrappy’ Ernst.

Conversely, Hicksy played the Challengers throughout the year after an extremely successful rookie season in 2023 with Toronto Ultra, who clinched a Major and finished second at Champs.

He was eventually replaced for the 2024 season by Dylan ‘Envoy’ Hannon – who, now looks to be following Scrap to LA Thieves – and, despite interest during the season from the likes of Surge and Vegas Legion, never was signed to join them.

Kyle ‘Kremp’ Haworth has also been linked with the SMG spot on Surge, but it looks very likely they opt for the European instead. Kremp remains in the running to remain with LA Thieves in any case as Gentle Mates will likely have to mortgage their house to secure Scrap and HyDra.

The two EU stars will complement Jovan ’04’ Rodriguez and Jordan ‘Abuzah’ François in completing the roster under head coach Ray ‘Rambo’ Lussier. To date, Nastie has signed on the dotted line, while Hicksy is getting close but still not penciled in.
