Pokemon Scarlet & Violet fans debate the future Master Balls after Indigo Disk DLC

After the events surrounding the Indigo Disc, some Pokémon Scarlet and Purple trainers are concerned about the Master Ball’s effectiveness in the future.

As many Pokémon veterans know, the Master Ball is the best Poké Ball in the series. You can certainly catch any Pokemon, so it’s great for hard-to-catch legendaries.

Luckily, the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet offer trainers plenty of ways to get their hands on them. The Pokemon Company is also offering a free Master Ball distribution event, so trainers can request a separate Master Ball from what they’ve earned in the main story.

However, in the main story, some trainers fear that the Master Ball will lose its invincible status in future games thanks to the Indigo Disk DLC.

Trainers who have played the Indigo Disk DLC will remember Kieran, the main character’s rival in both expansions, who attempted to conquer Terrapagos with the Master Ball in the climax scene.

Later, the same Master Ball makes its first appearance in this series. So a concerned coach asked the gaming community on Reddit. “Given how easy it is to get the Master Ball and the fact that Terrapagos actually got away with it, do you think they won’t be 100% uncatchable in future games? Evaluation?”

However, many coaches insisted that it worked from the start as long as players used the Master Ball.

One fan said: “Disgusting. Masterball is a staple in the game right now and I don’t think they’re going to change that.”

Another fan jokingly pointed out that in the Pokemon anime, Wishcash is depicted eating the Master Ball in the Ruby and Sapphire episode “Wishcash and Ash,” but nothing has changed in the original series.

Some pointed out that it was not the failure of the Master Ball that destroyed it, but rather Terrapagos and its Terra energy.

One fan explained: “In the player’s hands the ball always does what it wants. The master ball also does what it wants in this situation. I got Therapagos immediately.” When Kieran ordered Terra Starize to memorize it, Trapagos was able to resist and destroy Master Ball.

While the destruction of the Master Ball certainly became an effective plot point in Indigo Discs, it’s unlikely that Game Freak will buck the tradition in future generations.
