Major Baldur’s Gate 3 record set to be broken by Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is poised to break one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s most impressive records.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a really expansive game, with tons of characters to meet, lovable companions, and choices to make. As a result, the script became much richer.

In a community post prior to its release on Steam, developer Laurian Studios noted that the game contains “approximately 2,000,000 words” of dialogue. Baldur’s Gate 3 holds the record for the longest video game script of all time.

However, this record will only last for a short time. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 creative director Dan Vavra revealed the scope of the upcoming RPG’s script in a post on X.

The plot of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be familiar to fans of Baldur’s Gate 3.

“Yesterday, we counted how much we wrote on KCD2 with our chief designer, Prokop Yirza. Guess how big the script is? Vavra asked his followers. “2,200,000 words,” he said later.

Some quick calculations by Vavrav yielded some equations for other media. The extensive script for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 contains 11,000 typical script pages, which according to the creative director is equivalent to 100 scripts for a two-hour film, or roughly 25 average novels.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has fallen on hard times in terms of gaming achievements. Due to the huge success of games like Ballworld and Black Myth: Wukong, he was included in Steam’s all-time player ranking. Now it looks like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will lose its longest script with a February 11, 2025 release.

However, this may not be bad news for fans of the game. If Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s scenario wasn’t enough, we’ve got an equally expansive RPG to dive into.
