Harry Potter: Quidditch Heroes contains a variety of Easter eggs for fans of the series, including the infamous low-res model of Hagrid that has reached meme status.
After the release of Hogwarts Legacy, a game that was criticized for not using Quidditch, Harry Potter fans got a game dedicated to the sport. In Quidditch Champions, players can take to the skies as popular characters like Harry, Ron and Draco and compete against each other in single and multiplayer modes.
Before the release, the Wizarding World website published information about the game’s Easter eggs. One of them is a paper mask that allows players to look like a fun, low-quality model of Hagrid from the PlayStation 1 era.
“If you’ve been on the internet in the last few years, you’ve probably seen this iconic image of Hagrid in meme form. Now it’s in this post.” “Yes, in what could be described as an Easter egg, players in the game can use a paper mask in the shape of Hagrid’s stunning face in low resolution. Just thinking about it makes us all nostalgic.”
The Cam Player character models themselves are from a companion game to Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (known outside the US as Philosopher’s Stone) released in 2001 for the PlayStation 1.
The game gave Hogwarts’ popular groundskeeper a strange and funny appearance, which some compared to a blobfish. This has led to many people online jokingly referring to this version of the character as “Haggard”.
PS1 Hagrid isn’t the only Easter Egg Harry Potter fans can look forward to in the upcoming game. The same post also reveals that Quidditch Champions features Harry’s first unconventional hunt and the famous moment where he says “up” for the first time.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will be released digitally on September 3, 2024 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The physical release will take place on November 8, 2024, with the Nintendo Switch version planned for the holiday season 2024.
