Pokémon Go Fest Global 2024 has been criticized for hiding most of the prizes behind paid tickets, making it a unique experience for most trainers.
While previous Go festivals have included paid tickets that offered additional rewards such as legendary Pokémon and special research tasks, this year’s event is particularly unhappy this time with the exclusive content for ticket holders – the trainer game.
“This free user-for-user GoFest was absolute garbage,” said one Reddit user.
As someone who played in an area with a strong Pokemon GO community but didn’t buy a ticket, the poster described his Go Fest Global experience as “very boring to disappointing.”
“Previous GoFest events gave a greater boost to paid ticket holders, but everyone was able to enjoy the event however they wanted,” they explained. However, the lack of rare spawns and the large number of Pokemon locked behind paywalls, including Unowns and regional exclusives, mean that Go Fest isn’t primarily an assault on ticket holders.
This prompted the poster to say: “Basically for a F2P player it’s just a raid day and it’s really frustrating since it’s the biggest event of the year.”
Others agreed, calling this year’s event “very disappointing” in a comment, adding: “If it rains very heavily or if it is very hot, it’s not worth going to this event at all for me.”
The difference in quality between paid and free trainers was highlighted by another commenter who shared his wife’s experience of not purchasing a Go Fest ticket and his wife’s experience of not purchasing a Go Fest ticket.
According to their description, “He has a total of 54 Shinies (including new versions), 1 Hundo Sneasel, and a number of ‘Special Spawn’ Mons. Exactly 1 Shiny Necrozma (*3 were a lot), no hands, but maybe.” 2 “Special Spawn”.
Free Trainers had marginal results at the event, but even some Go Fest Global ticket holders were unlucky or had trouble getting enough solar and lunar energy to make Necrozma’s combo necessary. Form of Wings of Dawn and Mane of Twilight.
