Android 15 to get feature that can make your charging habits healthier

Android is getting a new feature that allows users to manually set the battery level to 80%.

Your smartphone battery is one of the first parts to be replaced. Repeated charging cycles and erratic charging behavior can lead to rapid degradation, forcing users to replace their phone or battery.

Android Authority reports that Google is working on a new feature that will allow users to set the battery level to 80% to improve battery health.

Mishal Rahman spotted this new feature in the SystemUI app in the latest Android 15 Beta 4 update.

According to Rahman, after enabling the charging optimization feature, users can choose the adaptive charging mode or the new 80% limit mode.

In terms of battery condition, it is considered optimal if the device’s battery is charged to 80%, not 100%. Because of this, the charging speed is high from 20% to 80%, and when the battery reaches 80%, the charging speed slows down, causing the battery to cool down.

A healthy battery maintains its maximum charge and therefore lasts longer between charges.

However, it is not yet known when this feature will be introduced. When Google introduces this feature in Android 15, Pixel devices will be the first to benefit.

It is interesting that Samsung already offers this option on several devices and allows users to decide how much they want to charge their phone; It may take some time for other brands to incorporate this feature into their Android interfaces.

Apple has a similar feature in iOS 18. However, Apple gives users the freedom to choose the limit: 80%, 85%, 90% or 95%.
